May 2021 saw an increase in property sales in Cyprus. 81% more sales contracts were deposited with land registries in comparison with the previous year. Compared to 2019, there is an increase of up to 36%.
Subsidizing interest rates when buying property in Cyprus
Cyprus has an interest rate subsidy program for the purchase of real estate, which covers a home loan to persons who entered into a contract in the period from 1.03.2020 and confirmed the use of the house for their own residence until 30.06.2021. Also, persons who have bought a land plot for construction can take advantage of the benefits.
The duration of the subsidy program is 4 years, the interest rate will be paid up to 1.5% (150 basis points). In this case, the loan amount must not exceed € 300,000. This scheme does not apply to loans whose interest rate is already subsidized through other government programs and the restructuring of an existing real estate loan.
